If you live in Austin you’re close to one of the best performing arts hubs in the state – get out there and see what your city has to offer! Set the ADT, get the kids a sitter and take your spouse on a date to one of Austin’s best theaters:
Bass Concert Hall: This mega-center has tons of great artists in and out and it’s a wonderful alternative if you’re not the Broadway type. Catch your favorite acoustic guitarist and even a magician or comedian from time to time – there’s something for everyone here.
Austin Lyric Opera: It’s the best place to go for a classic Opera in Texas, if you ask us, and who doesn’t love dressing up for a nighttime show? If you want to be more cultured you should start here.
Austin Symphony: This is the city’s oldest performing arts group and it’s really got a cult following here. Tickets can be a bit pricy but they’re worth every penny and you’ll even recognize some of the most classic songs. It’s a great date night, for sure.

Small town residents do not always have the opportunity to see plays. It does not matter if they are in Texas or any The perception many people have of Texas as being an uncultured, backwards place are far from accurate. Texas does not even top the list of the most democratic states. The up and coming theaters are not always the newest. Sometimes an old theater trying new things will attract the attention of the press This is the case of the Country Playhouse in Houston. The Country Playhouse is the city’s oldest community theater. Theater goers can see classic plays as well as well as modern plays from new artists.

The Country Play House is far from the only theater in Houston or Texas, but people do not want to go the big city may want to visit the Rockwell Community Playhouse. The new playhouse, built-in one of Texas’s smaller cities lets viewers enjoy a play without dealing with nearly impossible parking. Visitors are less likely to be targets of crime in small towns, but they still should keep their car doors locked just to be safe. You may not get to get to see the latest plays, but you can enrich your culture by going to the Rockwell Community playhouse..

When a new play or theater opens up, the buzz oftentimes gets around quickly. Perhaps you and your family have been searching for a new event to attend to spice up the activities that are usually done throughout the week. All excited, you get to the box office in hopes of getting a great seat to the showing. Unfortunately, you find that the show is sold out for two weeks straight.

Although this may cause a sudden instance of panic and utter disappointment, it is important to remember that a sold out and full house show does not mean that you still will not be able to snag a ticket. Try checking online in a local classified for individuals who have already bought tickets and now cannot attend the event. You can oftentimes even get a better deal in buying tickets in this manner.

Otherwise, try talking to the box office representative to find out whether the manager of the theater will allow more seats to be added to the event as this sometimes does take place. All in all, remember that a full house does not automatically mean that you will not be able to see the showing, rather it just requires a little detective work.

There is a thriving theater community throughout all of Texas. A person who lives outside of the state may not realize this. The state is known for its open parries, chillies, and its fierce independent streak. While these perceptions are not necessarily false, they do little to help people who are looking for local theater news in their own community. Larger towns and cities frequently have publications that cover the local arts. You need to find a paper or publication that covers the local theater scene specifically.

A publication dedicated to theater news keeps readers informed about all aspects of the local scene, but there are other ways to get the largest pieces of news. Local papers often have a section that covers the arts and entertainment scene. The size of the community determines how often this section gets published. Most papers put out the entertainment section once per week. You can get news on the local theater scene by reading this section, although you may not always find the information that you are looking for. If you are unsure where you can find the news, see if your local theaters in your area have their own websites. Local theaters want the community to know about what happens on their stages.Want to know more?
